I. Look at this DVD cover of " Oliver Twist" : what century do you think it is ?

This story probably happens in the 19th century or in the early 20 th century ( you can see it thanks to the clothes ).

II. Watch the video and make a mindmap : what did you understand ? ( regarde cette vidéo et fais une carte mentale : qu'as-tu compris ?

I can see lots children sleeping in a dormitary. One is so hungry he can't sleep. they decide to play a game with straws to know who will ask for some more food the next day. Oliver is chosen. The next day, he asks for more food at the canteen of the orphanage and the director is very very angry.

III. Watch this video again :Victorian child labour ( book p.80 ) : Put the following notes concerning Oliver and other children in the correct boxes. Be careful ! Some notes are wrong.
